-press START to play-

The 3-Up Moon, if you remember, only appears in Super Mario World and, of course, awards you with three more lives in an already pretty easy game. Can you remember, though, the first time playing through Super Mario World and using the cape to just bypass the stage, flying up into the sky, and running across this cheery guy:

I'm a sucker for nostalgia, especially when it comes to video games. I'm willing to fight people on why Super Mario Bros. 3 is the best video game ever created and will ever be, or about how 2D Zelda outshines 3D Zelda in every aspect of the games. But what I love more than getting into stupid arguments is to play and remember all sorts of old games, games that I played thousands of times when I was little, games that I should travel back in time and slap my child self until I play, and all the others in between. Of course, as all things like this, it's total nerdgasm all over the screen, so I don't know how this will turn out. To be honest, I think it'll be relatively ugly. Look at the effort I put into that banner. It's terrible!

I'm kind of messing around. I wanted to get things set up and commit myself to starting up my little corner of nostalgia here, and couldn't stand not having something up there. But this isn't 1up, or GameSpite, or IGN, or any super big project, this is me playing old video games and writing about them, because it really interests me. It's kind of lame, but I love talking about this kind of stuff, so here's my attempt at boring people to death.

This isn't much now, I don't have anything fully prepared right now, but know that I'm working on a real first post, rather than this quartercircle jerk of a post here. I have no planned schedule, it's definitely a "when it gets done it gets done" kind of project I'm doing, but that doesn't mean I want to take forever between things. Regardless, it'll get better when I have something to talk about. Excuse the mess at the moment.
